There are two comments.
when it was open in 1985 it was a hit to the New York skyline by then it had the highest atrium in the world I rate it 4 because the concept was not new the los angeles bonaventure hotel was the first to show us the exravagant atrium lobby, also similar are the peachtree hotel in atlanta and in detriot the most famous complex the marriot renaissance center, all design by the same architect firm as well the marquis,.The previous buildings were all built in the seventies ironicly the marquis was design in the late sixties! but was one of portmans last buildings to be erected with that design concept I really dont know which was designed first but it did make a majestic entrance in the great white way plowing the way to make Times Square what it is today.
